"Approach to Almotasim" is the title of a story from Jorge Luis Borges' collection *Ficciones* (translated by Song Byeong-seon, Minumsa, 2011). In the story, the narrator, while fleeing from a religious riot, discovers that a certain person he encounters is both his friend and the friend of his friend, and that this person’s name is Almotasim. In the story, Almotasim is considered a form of moral proximity to God, and through his journey toward Almotasim, the narrator gains various insights.

The works of Kwon Yeo-hyeon, Kim Yoon-seob, and Jeong Ha-nuk appear to explore various ways of approaching a moral-aesthetic enlightenment while escaping reality and traveling. Although their paths are different, their shared desire to approach a metaphysical ascent through the act of creating art is evident.

“알모타심으로의 접근”은 보르헤스의 단편 소설집 픽션들(호르헤 루이스 보르헤스 지음, 송병선 옮김, 민음사, 2011)에 나오는 소설의 제목으로 소설 속 화자는 종교적 폭동을 피해 도망치던 중 어떤 사람이 자신의 친구이자 친구의 친구임을 알게되고 그 사람의 이름이 알모타심 이란 것을 알게 된다. 알모타심은 작중에 신에 근접한 일종의 도덕성으로 간주되며 화자는 그에게 다가가는 여정을 통해 다양한 깨달음을 얻게 된다.

권여현과 김윤섭 정하눅의 작품들은 현실을 피해 탈주하고 여행하는 도중 여러 방법으로 어떤 도덕적-미학적 깨달음에 다가가려 노력하는 듯 보인다. 그들의 행로는 각각 다르나 작품을 만든다라는 행위를 통해 형이상학적 상승체에 다가가려는 욕망은 같아 보인다.
